It teaches you accounting through exercises like fill-in-the-blanks. That might sound like grammar school, but that's the point. The book's title is exactly what you will get, the essentials of accounting, without all of the minutiae that make other books hundreds of pages long. And you will be prepared enough to follow along during the first few weeks of an introductory MBA course.
